Introducing New Article Type in our journal

We are pleased to announce our new article type: Methods/Protocols.We have launched this new section particularly to the young scientists, who often are the hands in the laboratory repeating published methods.Always adopting existing methods is laborious but often unrewarded.By sharing your methods/protocols in our journal, you make sure that knowledge stays with the scientific community, even if the scientist leaves the project. We hope to see more being published in Methods, Protocols. All published Methods /protocols, which are assigned a DOI for citation purposes and published under a CC-BY license.

What is a Protocol article?

Protocol is a format for step-by-step descriptions of procedures that users can take to the lab and immediately apply in their own research.Knowledge around protocol optimization is routinely lost in paper notebooks and poorly reported in published papers. We are aimed to make the everyday work of researchers easier by focusing on usable and reproducible protocols. Our mission is to provide high-quality peer-reviewed protocols for researchers.Writing of valuable protocols should be encouraged. By publishing your valuable Protocols, you are enabling researchers to more readily reproduce or adapt your methodology, as well as increasing the visibility of your research.

The journal offers two options A “Research” or A “Review” Protocol article. Both have different purposes and are peer-reviewed and can be cited, just like any other article. A “Research” protocol articles present new findings. A “Review” protocol article presents an overview of a research field in an accessible way.

Each protocol contains a full list of reagents and equipment, timing information, and step-by-step instructions for performing the experiment, as well as information on designing and adapting the technique, its advantages and limitations compared to alternatives, troubleshooting, analyzing data, and interpreting results. Also we request the researchers to include information about the likely outcome of protocol.

A rigorous peer-review process ensures the highest scientific standards.Details of the protocol registration should be included in the review article. All published protocols, which are assigned a DOI for citation purposes and published under a CC-BY license.

What is a Method type article?

These articles present a new experimental method, test or procedure. The method described may either be completely new, or may offer a better version of an existing method. The article should describe a demonstrable advance on what is currently available. Methods are externally peer-reviewed and edited in-house to the highest standards.

Article Format

Protocols, Methods articles are no more than 5,000 words and contain up to four figures. See General Author Guidelines for all other information on manuscript preparation.
